Rui Faria da Cunha


Rui Faria da Cunha is the founder of eu-legal. Lawyer since 1995 and member of the Bar Associations of Lisbon  and Brussels. Based in Brussels since 2003, he works with a small team of independent lawyers in various areas of Portuguese, Belgian and European law, mostly with a cross-border dimension.


A law graduate from the University of Coimbra, Rui Faria da Cunha completed post-graduate and master's studies in European and competition law and also holds an executive master's degree in management.


In addition to being a lawyer, Rui Faria da Cunha is a board member of the Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, of which he was president for three terms, a member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council and of the Advisory Council of the Consular Section of the Portuguese Embassy in Belgium, and president of the University of Coimbra Alumni Association in Belgium.


In addition to his native Portuguese, Rui Faria da Cunha is fluent in English and French, has a strong command of Spanish and basic notions of Chinese Mandarin.

Hoje, dia 22 de abril de 2024, o embaixador José Augusto Duarte recebeu, na sua residência oficial, em Paris, membros do Conselho da Diáspora Portuguesa estabelecidos em França. Depois das apresentações de cumprimentos protocolares, Rui Faria da Cunha, coordenador do núcleo regional da Europa Ocidental, fez uma apresentação geral da missão e das atividades do Conselho e passou a palavra aos restantes conselheiros, que aproveitaram a ocasião para falar sobre o seu percurso profissional e o trabalho que desenvolvem em França. Na conversa que se seguiu, foram partilhadas ideias sobre como contribuir, individual e coletivamente, para o reforço da reputação e imagem de Portugal no mundo e, consequentemente, para o seu desenvolvimento e prosperidade. Além dos Conselheiros, estiveram ainda presentes o diretor da AICEP, Eduardo Henriques, e o Conselheiro Político, Hugo Palma. O Conselho da Diáspora Portuguesa é uma associação privada de utilidade pública sem fins lucrativos, constituída no dia 26 de dezembro de 2012, em Portugal, sob o Alto Patrocínio de Sua Excelência o Presidente da República e do Senhor Ministro de Estado e dos Negócios Estrangeiros, que conta atualmente com cerca de 250 membros, espalhados pelos 5 continentes.
